Why lived experience matters

Neuroaffirmation and validation

So many times I'd spoken with various others (friends, family, professionals), taking apart my (undiagnosed) neurodivergent experience and trying to overcome/correct it/hide it/"deal with it"...

And then, I sat in front of a neurodivergent friendly coach. As we discussed a particular challenge and explored strategies, she suggested something that might work..."no; I can't handle sweat" I said (that's no doubt spiked some curiosity!). I was fully rehearsed, poised and ready to justify my experience, negotiate, or simply nod, agree (mask/fawn) and ditch the suggestion later. But, "okay, I get it. Let's think about other options," said my coach.

Well; that was a game-changer, a moment many months ago that I've never forgotten. And one that sparked my own pursuit of delivering coaching to others.

Unlike therapy or any other counsel, coaching validated my experience and allowed me to explore realistic, neurodivergent friendly strategies for achieving my goals.

And that is why Sparkly Frog was spawned (I did warn you about the puns!)
